Production designer Nathan Crowley, who designed the Tumbler car for Batman Begins, designed six models (built by special effects supervisor Chris Corbould) to use for film production and to backup. for necessary collision scenes and accidents that may occur. The car has a 508 mm (20 inch) front end and rear wheel tires, equipped with tow hook, cannon and machine guns. The engines are in the middle of the wheel, located 31⁄2 feet apart (1067 mm) on each outside of the tank. The driver lies under the tank, making it easy to move up and down to avoid being hit by any bullets that Batman encounters. Stuntman Jean-Pierre Goy is the person who performs car chase scenes in the Dark Knight.
